A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the department of Environmental and Sustainable Engineering at the University at Albany, State University of New York, under the supervision of Dr. Rixiang Huang. The postdoctoral researcher will work primarily on a funded project related to the biogeochemical cycling of carbon and nutrients in fire-impacted environments, but will have the flexibility to participate in other research projects or develop new projects. This initial appointment is one year with possible renewal that depends on funding availability and performance.
The desired qualifications for this position include:
1) A Ph.D in soil sciences, geochemistry, environmental science and engineering, or other closely related disciplines;
2) Demonstrated research experiences in enzyme biochemistry, interfacial chemistry, electrochemistry, and/or soil biogeochemistry;
3) Extensive hand-on experience in common organic structural characterization techniques, such as mass spectroscopy (LC-MS and FT-ICR-MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (liquid and solid), is preferred;
4) Strong scientific communication skills;
