The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department is seeking applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position in environmental engineering (Position No. 52159). Candidates must have earned a doctorate in civil or environmental engineering, environmental science, or a closely related field. We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in water sustainability and climate, water chemistry, water/wastewater treatment, hazardous/industrial wastes, or watershed biogeochemistry. The successful candidate is expected to build a recognized research program in his or her area of specialization and interest. SMU is a private university dedicated to academic excellence. Located in Dallas, Texas, SMU has approximately 12,000 students. The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department resides within the Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering, located in the J. Lindsay Embrey Engineering building, a LEED Gold certified facility, completed in 2006. The Embrey building includes several research and instructional environmental engineering laboratories. Other engineering facilities include: the Jerry R. Junkins Engineering building, completed in 2002, and the new Caruth Hall, completed in 2010. The department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in civil engineering, environmental engineering, and environmental science.
