Job Description

Dr. Sherchan’s lab at Morgan State seeks to recruit one postdoc to work in the field of environmental chemistry, environmental microbiology and Artificial Intelligence. The candidate will combine environmental biotechnology, microscopy, AI/machine learning, omics to advance environmental and health research. The postdoctoral researcher will play a leading role in this research, working closely with Dr. Sherchan and other collaborators. The successful candidate will be expected to spend time at the field site and at the partner institutions. The candidate will also be able to participate in other ongoing research activities at two centers- Center for Climate Change and Health and Center of Research Excellence in Wastewater-based Epidemiology.

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in environmental sciences, environmental health engineering, data science, computer science, computational biology, microbiology, or a related field.

The candidate must be self-driven, detail oriented, independent, and highly organized; team member; and possesses proven publication record and excellent skills, including oral presentations at scientific conferences and written peer reviewed journal articles. The candidate is also expected to assist in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, preparing proposals, and writing journal publications.

The position is renewable annually, contingent on performance. The project is funded by the NIH for 5 years-$1.5 million.
