The USGS funded research project focuses on PFAS analysis in water, sediments, and plant tissues at the lower Mississippi River and the Lake Pontchartrain Estuary watershed. Seeking a graduate student with a background in analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, environmental science and other related fields and a student with a conferred master’s degree is preferred. Departmental Math requirements include Calculus I and II, which can be made up in the first year if the student has not taken these courses. The stipend is $31,000 per year and includes a full tuition waiver. The College also has a number of scholarships each year, which provide additional funds paid directly to the student. Field work is required on small boats as well as river sampling campaigns; and extensive laboratory trainings and work analyzing PFAS in water, sediments, and plant tissues will be required. Please send a CV and letter of interest to Dr. Bikram Subedi at bsubedi@lsu.edu as well as any questions you may have.
