Postdoctoral Position in Microbial Ecology / Environmental Microbiology A position at the Postdoctoral level is available at the University of California, Santa Barbara, in the area of molecular biological analysis of microbiological water quality related to quantifying and tracing fecal pollution in coastal environments including watersheds. The position is full time with the title of Assistant Specialist III ($44,400 per year plus benefits). The initial appointment is for 1-year; continuation beyond 1 year will be based on performance and funding availability. Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. in environmental microbiology, microbial ecology, environmental engineering or related fields, have demonstrated experience in field and laboratory methods including recruiting and applying DNA-based approaches for community and population-level microbiological assessments, and a record of communicating research results including peer-reviewed publishing. The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity of the academic community through research.
