A postdoctoral research fellow is sought for a position in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Shantou University, China. The successful candidate will focus on a project to study the mechanism of biofilm formation in drinking water distribution networks and its effects on antibiotic resistance genes. The work is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and funding is available for up to 2 years. The postdoctoral fellow will be exposed to a dynamic and collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D in in environmental microbiology, molecular biology, or environmental engineering awarded no earlier than 01 June 2020, with formal research experience related to water and wastewater treatment. Expertise in microbiological techniques such as isolation and purification of microbes, extraction of DNA/RNA, metagenomic sequencing data analysis, and experience in LC-MS/MS, SEM and 3D excitation–emission matrix (EEM) fluorescence spectroscopy would be an advantage. The capacity to produce high-quality publications in a timely manner and strong English or Chinese communication skills are required.
