Job Description

A postdoc position on analytical chemistry (mass spectrometry) is available in Dr. Zhao’s group at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NCA&T). We are focused on addressing challenges in water and environmental sustainability faced by industries and in the global community. Specific topics include, but not limit to:

1. Fate and transport, and remediation of emerging contaminants, including PFAS.
2. Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Environmental Remediation.
3. Nitrogen cycling and Water-Energy Nexus.

The successful candidate will focus on exploring the fundamental principles of fate and transport, and remediation of environmental emerging contaminants, especially PFAS, in the natural and built environments, using an Ion Mobility Quadrupole Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer (IM-QToF MS) platform.

Ideal candidates should have a PhD degree in analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry or a related field, deep experience with high resolution mass spectrometry and non-targeted analysis. Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team are required. Familiarity with Agilent software and data science methods is not required but desired.

Interested applicants please contact Dr. Renzun Zhao (email: rzhao@ncat.edu) with a CV (including publication list), contact of three references, and one peer-reviewed publication for full consideration. The review process will begin immediately and will continue until the positions are filled. The position is expected to start in Summer 2024.

Dr. Zhao’s group is funded by agencies such as the National Science Foundation, etc., and research findings have been published in journals, such as Nature Sustainability, Water Research, etc. More information of the research team can be found at: https://renzunzhao.weebly.com/
