Job Description

A Postdoctoral Research Associate opportunity is immediately available for a highly motivated scientist or engineer with Hyperion Analytical in our Rancho Cucamonga, CA development laboratory. We are looking for an environmental engineer with analytical chemistry experience or an analytical chemist, or equivalent to develop an analytical instrument system for measurement of trace organic contaminants in food, water and pharmaceuticals.

About the Company
Hyperion Analytical LLC was founded in 2019 to develop and commercialize innovative scientific and analytical instrument technologies. There are currently two products on the path to market introduction, supported by investment and grant funding.
Our NTA particle analyzer incorporates numerous advances over legacy products on the market and creates new potential markets and applications. Our nitrosamine analyzer sets a new standard for performance and has a unique method with significant advantages over other techniques. Development work continues to bring both products to full market readiness and plan for future improvements.

About the Position
As the researcher, you will lead the development of the current HPLC-chemiluminescence-based system, progress method development, and conduct instrument and method validations. This includes experiments in the laboratory, interfacing with vendors and engineers to design improvements, learning about market expectations, and identifying the best path forward for the product technology.
Our desired qualifications are descriptive rather than proscriptive. If the position sounds like a good fit for you, talk to us. We expect the ideal candidate will have several of the following characteristics:
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent experience. Other disciplines such as Physics may be suitable.
• Experience with practical HPLC method development is essential.
• Experience with chemiluminescence based detection and ion exchange systems is highly desirable.
• Practical mechanical and building skills with tools and knowledge of electronics.
• Familiarity with chromatographic and spectroscopic instrumentation and equipment
• Ability to summarize technical work effectively through journal publications, written communications with team members and to present work at conferences.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Basic laboratory skills and familiarity with safety procedures.
• Desire to develop new skills and knowledge in a rapidly changing company.
The position is based in Rancho Cucamonga, CA and is full-time or equivalent. We strive to be flexible to an individual’s needs and welcome inquiries from any interested persons. Compensation $70-75k, commensurate with experience.

Time period: 12 months, subject to renewal
