A postdoctoral associate position is immediately available in the Sustainability and Resilience Adaptation Laboratory (SUREAL) at University of Miami College of Engineering (Coral Gables, FL). The selected candidate will work in a two-year research project in the Department of Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering, to start up, operate, and demonstrate a novel residential scale electrohydromodulation reactor for treating septic tank effluent and recovering nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients as fertilizer.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, or related field. Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment is required. Principal qualifications include:
1) Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in physical-chemical water treatment and ability in electrochemistry; and
2) Experience and ability in the use of tools.
Experience in conducting field-scale water treatment experiments and in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students is desirable.
Initial appointment will be one year. Employment extension depends on performance and availability of funds (the overall appointment length can be 2 years).
