Two postdoctoral fellow positions are available immediately at the Water Resources Research Center, University of Hawaii at Manoa. The first position will work on bacterial phages from wastewater and their environmental and industrial applications, including in wastewater treatment, water reuse, and water quality monitoring. The second position will work on environmental DNA-based metagenomic detection of microbial fecal or environmental pathogens in water. Opportunities also exist for the fellow to participate in other research projects in the laboratory. Successful candidates should have a PhD in environmental engineering, environmental science, environmental microbiology, molecular biology, or other related disciplines. Good communication skills are required. Prior experiences with bacterial phages, water reuse, molecular biology tools, metagenomics, and bioinformatics are beneficial but not required.
Interested applicants should send a current CV and a short description of research interests to Dr. Tao Yan (taoyan@hawaii.edu) for consideration. Review of applications will start immediately. Additional information on the university and the research group can be found at https://www.wrrc.hawaii.edu/ and http://www2.hawaii.edu/~taoyan/.
