Job Description Summary
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position, to begin in Spring 2026 or Fall 2026. This is a 9-month appointment, renewable each year with the possibility of teaching during the summer term for additional compensation.
Auburn’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering focuses on providing an excellent student-centered engineering experience and has multiple instructors with teaching awards at the department, college, university, regional, and national levels. The department is committed to fostering the development of the teaching capabilities and effectiveness of the person who fills this position. It is envisioned that this person will possess a passion for teaching and for mentoring undergraduate students.

Minimum Qualifications
The minimum required qualification is a master’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related field at the time employment begins. Applicants who have achieved candidacy in a PhD program in the aforementioned fields will be considered eligible. Selected candidates must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work legally in the United States at the time of appointment for the proposed term of employment.
Desired Qualifications
Candidates with (or close to earning) a PhD or who have teaching and/or industry experience are desired. The successful candidate should be able to effectively teach classes (to include lecture and laboratory experiences), including, but not limited to, the areas of engineering mechanics and introductory level civil, environmental, and construction engineering topics. Excellent communication skills are desired.
The successful candidate should demonstrate a dedication to providing effective, impactful educational experiences in both lecture and lab settings, and to ensuring that students are cared for and mentored productively through their undergraduate studies. The candidate should foster a collaborative environment in which all students are valued and respected.
